Mae Hong son on the Burmese border to the west is particularly attractive. Know as "The city of the three mists", It can be reached in half an hour by plane, though those with the time may find driving round the excellent high-way a good introduction to the forest - covered mountains surrounding it. Home to most of Thailand's colorful hill-peoples the Pa-dong women with there elongated ringed necks the most spectacularly different in appearance.

It offers the adventurous and energetic hot- springs caves and waterfalls as near or farther destinations. Rafting on the Pai river is particularly recommended. But the small provincial town with its morning markets and colorful festivals of the ordination ceremony of young Shan men in to the monk hood is a great place to lounge around, its temple of Wat Phra That Doi Kong Mu providing the optimum viewing point for the minimum of effort

3 Days Mae Hong Son Tour

Day 1	Chiang Mai-Hmong Hilltribe Lodge (-/Lunch/Dinner)
08:30	Pick up passengers from various Chiang Mai Hotels and transfer to airport.
10:00	Depart Chiang Mai.
10:35	Arrive Mae Hong Son and transfer to Tara Mae Hong Son Hotel.
14:00-17:00	Visit Burmese-style temples Wat Jong Kham and Wat Jong Klang located next to a large pond in southern end of town. Wat Jong Kham was built nearly 200 years ago by Shan people who make up about 50% of Mae Hong Son’s population. Wat Jong Klang houses 100-year-old glass paintings and woodcarvings from Burma, depicting various lives of the Buddha. Then drive uphill to Wat Phra Dhat Doi Kong Moo, with its beautiful view over Mae Hong Son. Dinner and accommodations at IMPERIAL TARA MAE HONG SON or similar hotel.
13:00	Lunch at Khai Muk Restaurant.
Day 2	Mae Hong Son (Breakfast/Lunch/Dinner)
08:00-17:00	Depart for the Cave with numerous unusually colored carp. Continue to Khaya (Karen) hilltribe village of Ban Nai Soi. One-hour elephant ride through jungle to Padong village, home of long-necked Padong tribe (Giraffe Women), with numerous brass rings around their elongated necks—an extraordinary sight. Picnic lunch provided. Drive by truck down to Sop Soi and take longtail speed boats for one-hour trip from the hanging bridge down Pai River to Ban Huay Dua. Arrive at Mae Hong Sorn Resort boat landing and transfer by truck to hotel.
19:00	Dinner at Bai Fern Restaurant. Accommodations at IMPERIAL TARA MAE HONG SON or similar hotel.
Day 3	Mae Hong Son (Breakfast/-/-)
06:30	Visit morning market.
07:30	Return to hotel for breakfast.
08:30	Drive south to "Meo Micro Wave" hilltribe village on steep mountainside by the relay station from which village got its name.
11:00	Transfer to airport.
14:20	Depart Mae Hong Son.
14:55	Arrive Chiang Mai with transfers to your Chiang Mai hotel.
